INSIDER TIP
|
|
Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa is very popular amongst families as the stay includes all meals, drinks (house pouring wines (red, with, sparkling, rose'), beer, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, tea, coffee and juices), excusions and spa credit. Families with children will be kept busy with the variety of resort activities and excursions to choose from. Meals are usually rather expensive in Maldives as most ingredients and food supplies are imported. Savings can be quite significant when considering an all inclusive resort for a family with children. | |

MALDIVES TRAVEL TIPS
|
|
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO MALDIVES??? | The dry months of December to April are the best times to travel to Maldives. Take note that this is peak season for the resorts so prices will be relatively higher. The months of May to November are considered low season due to the south western monsoon but you will get the best rates. Take note that this period will be cloudier with higher chances of rainfall but better visibility for divers, water clarity for snokelers and best waves for surfers. |
SHOULD I TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE BEFORE VISITING MALDIVES: |
We know that a lot of things can happen from the time you book your holiday to the actual date so whenever you are travelling it would be good precaution to have travel insurance.

IS THERE A LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE ON THE SEAPLANE? | Yes, generally it is 5kg for carry on and 20kg for check-in luggage. No single bag should weigh more than 32kg. A fee of US$4++ will be charged for each kg above the allowable limit. In some cases, your luggage may be bumped off due to luggage limitations on a certain flight and for safety purposes but rest assured that the seaplane carrier will deliver it via the next available flight. |
WHAT TIME WILL I ARRIVE AT THE RESORT? | Due to logistics, resort transfers are combined with other passengers from different international flights. This results in a "wait time" of 2 hours for the immigration procedure and transfer coordination. Seaplanes operate until 4.00pm (Local Time). Domestic flights until 8.00pm (Local Time), and speedboat transfers round the clock based on international flight arrivals. (Transfers may be cancelled or delayed for safety reasons during inclement weather.) |
WHAT SHOULD I PACK? | A valid passport, sun block, summer clothings, flip flops, and a camera are all you need! There is no need to bring shoes since you won't be wearing them once you are at the resort. Fancy dinners may call for more than your swim wear, so do pack a couple of casual clothes. Night time strolls along the beach may get a little nippy so bring a shawl or light jacket if you must. But overall just remember that Maldives is a tropical country and you are on an island getaway, so kick off your shoes, bum under the sun and have a holiday of your life. |
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED? | Credit cards are widely accepted but only major currencies are accepted at the resort such as USD and EUR. Unfortunately traveller's cheques are not accepted at any bank or resort in Maldives. |
WHAT KIND OF ELECTRIC OUTLET IS USED IN THE MALDIVES? | Most, if not all, sockets use standard UK 3 pin flat plugs. The electric current is 220-240 volts. Resorts will usually have adaptors available. |
HONEYMOON BENEFITS? | The resort will require a copy of your marriage certificate at the time of booking in order to provide the available honeymoon benefits as per the resort terms and conditions. |
DO I NEED A VISA? | Tourists are issued free visa upon arrival. Remember to keep a copy of your service vouchers at all times. |
MEAL OPTIONS? | Meal plans such as BB (Bed & Breakfast), HB (Halfboard) or FB (Fullboard), strictly exclude any form of drinks or beverages. These incidental charges are to be borne by the guests upon checkout. Some resorts offer meal options on AI (All Inclusive) and these options are usually inclusive of beverages. Sometimes, excusions, activites and other perks may be included in the All Inclusive options. |
WHAT HAPPENS UPON ARRIVAL AT MALE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT? | You will be met by our airport representative, holding board with your name on it at the arrival area. They will then assist you with your luggage and escort you to the resort transfer area. |
THINGS TO NOTE? | Bringing of alcolhol into Maldives is strictly prohibited. It is exclusively served at the resorts. |
