(MARCH TO MAY) – During autumn, (March, April and May) visitors will be able to travel in comfortable weather while enjoying the changing colors of the city. Melbourne Fashion Festival and Formula 1 Grand Prix is normally held in the month of March.
(JUNE TO AUGUST) – Winter season, is especially popular amongst tourist that are planning trips to Mount Buller, which is a 3 hours drive from Melbourne City. A range of winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding awaits you at the resort.
(SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER) – Springtime visitors will enjoy blooming flowers and rising temperatures. Despite rising temperatures, it can be quite windy during this time of the year, hence, visitors should still pack on warm sweaters. Daytime spring temperatures average out at between 17 and 20°C. Spring is also the season of sports as regional events (such as Australian Football Finals/Melbourne Cup) are held during the month of November when temperatures are slightly lower.
(DECEMBER TO FEBRUARY) – Summer is the peak tourist season in Melbourne. The city and beaches gets significantly busier during this period. Attractions such as the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island Penguins are usually filled with tourist during this season as well. If you are travelling during summer, do bring along a hat, sun block, sun glasses, anything that can protect you from the UV rays, but also do bring along some light warm clothing as the temperature may dip below 20°C in the night.
MUST DO IN MELBOURNE: Melbourne is popular for the several markets scattered across the city. The markets can be categorized into General Markets that sell art and crafts, clothings, flowers, books and antiques artifacts. If you are looking for food, wine, beer and cheese, check out the Produce Markets instead. Be sure to visit at least one Melbourne market during your stay.
